Gorilla Trekking Permits
Permits are limited and should be secured 4–6 months in advance; each covers one hour with a gorilla family after a guided trek that can last 1–6 hours depending on the family's location.
Fitness for Trekking
Trekking involves uneven, sometimes steep terrain at altitude; a reasonable level of fitness is recommended, and porters are available to assist.
What to Pack
Waterproof hiking boots, garden gloves for gripping vegetation, long sleeves and trousers, and rain gear regardless of season.
Visas & Entry
Most nationalities can obtain an e-visa in advance; a East Africa Tourist Visa may also cover Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda on one trip.
