Arrive in Nairobi and be met by your local guide for the transfer to your hotel. Store your luggage and explore the city if you land early, or simply settle in and rest before the safari begins tomorrow.

Start your safari where few travellers do — inside a capital city. Nairobi National Park is too small for elephants, but its dense population of both black and white rhino makes a sighting almost guaranteed. After lunch in Nairobi, continue to Amboseli National Park and check in for two nights, with a sunset drink and your first view of Kilimanjaro.
A full day on safari beneath Kilimanjaro. Watch large elephant herds — some with genuinely enormous tusks — cross the flat, open plains before retreating into the forests at the mountain’s foot as the sun sets. Sparse vegetation makes wildlife easy to spot: zebra, antelope, giraffe, lion, and, for birders, a wetland alive with species. Lunch is packed so you can stay out on safari all day.
Stay: Sungura Safari Camp
Start with an optional sunrise balloon ride over Kilimanjaro, or ease into the morning before departing for Tsavo East, one of Kenya’s oldest and largest parks. The drive becomes a game drive as you enter — expect lion, cheetah, giraffe, the rare jet-black serval, and Tsavo East’s famously reddish elephants, tinted by the park’s red soil. This is also your best chance in Kenya to spot the elusive leopard.

The landscape shifts dramatically from Tsavo East’s flat red plains to Tsavo West’s dense vegetation and dramatic lava fields. En route, stop at Mzima Springs for a ranger-led walk past crocodiles basking on the shore and hippos in the water — and excellent birdlife, including kingfishers.
Stay: Ziwani Tented Camp
One last game drive before the 5–7 hour journey back to Nairobi, with a chance of further sightings in the first stretch through the park.

Transfer to the airport for your approximately 5-hour flight to Mauritius. On arrival, your local guide takes you to your hotel in the island’s south-west, home to some of Mauritius’s most beautiful beaches — Le Morne, Tamarin, and Flic en Flac — and within reach of Black River Gorges National Park and the hike up Le Morne mountain itself.

Sightings can never be guaranteed with wild animals, but this itinerary is built to maximise your chances — particularly for rhino in Nairobi National Park and leopard in Tsavo East, alongside strong lion, elephant, and buffalo populations throughout.
You'll see the mountain from a different angle and through a different landscape — Amboseli's flat, open plains versus Tsavo West's denser vegetation and lava fields — giving you two very different photographic perspectives on the same mountain.
The south-west (Le Morne, Tamarin, Flic en Flac) is quieter and closer to nature, with hiking and some of the island's best beaches. Grand Baie in the north is lively, with restaurants, bars, and watersports on your doorstep. Staying in both gives you a fuller picture of the island than a single-base holiday.
